Flight Training Inc.
was founded in 2002 by Lela and Trey Hughes to serve the pilot training needs of the aviation community.

Trey began his aviation career in 1970 as a Flight Instructor in San Antonio, Texas.  After several years teaching, he entered corporate aviation flying for an independent oil company president in Conroe, Texas. His corporate career also included flying for a cattle broker/ auctioneer, a homebuilder and a NASCAR racing team.

After 15 years in corporate aviation, in 1987 Trey joined the staff at FlightSafety International in San

Antonio. His primary responsibility was to help develop a transition program for buyers of new Mooney aircraft.

At FlightSafety, Trey was responsible for hiring and training instructors, and creating the training course material needed to provide training under an agreement with Mooney Aircraft Corporation in Kerrville, Texas.  For more than 14 years, he served the Mooney pilot community, training pilots in the proper ways to fly their Mooney aircraft.  This experience – over 4000 hours total – gave Trey insight into what it takes to create a successful and effective training program for general aviation pilots, and he brings this skill to Flight Training Inc.

While at FSI, Trey was also tasked with the duty of developing a training curriculum for the TBM 700, and in 1990 became the Single Engine Program Manager responsible for both aircraft training programs.  With over 1800 hours in this fast turboprop, Trey became one of the Nation’s foremost experts on TBM 700 operation.

In 2002, Trey retired from FlightSafety to accept the position of Executive Director of the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association (MAPA) where he continued to meet the needs of the Mooney family of owners and operators.

Lela’s path to Flight Training Inc. took a different course.  She spent 14 years working at Mooney Aircraft Corporation, mostly in the sales department, before leaving aviation to start a successful photography business.  But aviation was in her blood, and in late 1995, she had the opportunity to join the staff at the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association (MAPA) office in San Antonio.  Here she renewed her friendships with the Mooney community and general aviation pilots.  Her concern for customer service and infectious enthusiastic personality made her many friends in aviation.  She brings this same exuberance and concern

for customer care to Flight Training Inc.

Paul Arrambide started his flying career in 1977 flying the family Piper Arrow with his father.  In 1980 when they moved up to a Cessna P210, he gained high performance and pressurized experience.  That same year Paul got is tail-wheel check-out in a Piper J3 Cub.

In 1984, Paul entered Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Dayton Beech Florida where he received his Commercial Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Instructor Certificates.  He graduated with an
